The Game Awards 2025: Key Reveals From a Packed Showcase
The Game Awards 2025 delivered a whole lot of awards for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ( nine total, including Game of the Year), but it also gave us several reveals for big titles coming in 2026 and 2027. Let's take a look at the biggest reveals and trailers from the show.
Divinity (Larian Studios)
Larian Studios is leaving D&D behind to return to its roots with Divinity which is billed as the studio's largest project to date. While the cinematic trailer had too much body horror for me, I'm still interested to see what the Baldur's Gate 3 team can do back in their own fantasy universe. You can check out the reveal below, but seriously, it's gross.
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic (Arcanaut Studios)
Casey Hudson, director of the original Knights of the Old Republic, unveiled this single-player action RPG set in the Old Republic era. Players' choices influence light or dark paths in a narrative-driven story amid a crashed Sith capital ship. I'm very excited to learn more about this one, but so far the details are few and far between. We're expecting this for both PC and consoles, but it's likely still years away.
Control Resonant (Remedy Entertainment)
Remedy announced a Control sequel that shifts the action out into an open-world action RPG in a warped Manhattan. Protagonist Dylan Faden battles cosmic threats with supernatural abilities and a transforming melee weapon. We're very excited to see how this sequel can expand on the excellent original.
PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC in 2026.
Resident Evil Requiem (Capcom)
Capcom confirmed Leon S. Kennedy as a playable character in Resident Evil Requiem (RE9), alongside protagonist Grace Ashcroft. The trailer showcased Leon's action-oriented gameplay with a lot more zombie shooting than we have seen from Grace. Oh, and there was a chainsaw. This one is still on track for its February 27, 2026 release.
Switch 2, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst (Crystal Dynamics)
Two Tomb Raider titles were revealed: Legacy of Atlantis reimagines Lara Croft's 1996 debut in a dazzling new engine for 2026, while Catalyst offers up an all new story in 2027 that takes place during a mythical cataclysm. It's really great to see Lara back in action, and I love that we don't have to wait until 2027 to dive in.
PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer ( Fuse Games )
It's not often that we get a new Star Wars game reveal, so getting two in one show was an exciting surprise! Galactic Racer is a new title from Fuse Games that looks like a grittier take on the pod racing games we got back around the release of Star Wars Episode 1. It looks and sounds incredible, and I like the 'underground racing' element that's hinted at in the trailer. Maybe this will be able to fill that F-Zero sized hole in my gamer heart.
Coming in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox X|S, and PC.
Other Notable Mentions
- Gang of Dragon (Nagoshi Studio): Yakuza-like brawler starring Don Lee.
- Mega Man: Dual Override (Capcom): Mega Man's next 2D platformer is real, and coming in 2027.
- Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred (Blizzard): D4's next expansion is bringing us the much requested Paladin class! It's slated for April 28, 2026, so there is a little time to dust off your character and get up to speed before it gets here..
- Saros (Housemarque): The next bullet-hell roguelike from the makers of Returnal. This trailer shows off some gameplay and gives us a few story hints. Thankfully we don't have to wait too long for this one, it's coming April 30, 2026.
- Total War: Warhammer 40,000 (Creative Assembly): It's Total Waaaargh on a galactic scale! We only get a little glimpse of gameplay at the end of the trailer, but it looks great.
While some of the wilder rumors didn't pan out, I think there were a lot of great announcements this year. Hopefully we'll be able to get our hands on some of these titles in the months ahead, and when we know more we'll be sure to keep you informed here on GamerMinr.com.
