007 First Light Delayed to May 27, 2026: IO Interactive Takes Two Months for Extra Polish
IO Interactive announced today that its upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light, will launch on May 27, 2026, pushing back the original March 27 date by two months. The studio cited the need for additional polish on its "most ambitious project to date."
CEO Hakan Abrak shared the update:
"007 First Light is our most ambitious project to date, and the team has been fully focused on delivering an unforgettable James Bond experience... The game is progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end, so these additional two months will allow us to further polish and refine the experience." As an independent developer and publisher, IO aims to "ensure the experience meets the level of quality you players deserve on day one."
While recent hands on previews have called it "so much more than Hitman," blending action, spycraft, gadgets, and classic Bond chases the recent State of Play trailer featuring Lenny Kravitz as a villain, drew mixed feedback on visuals and gameplay.
Here's hoping the additional time will be well used and help to make this a 007 classic.
