He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction Announced at Gamescom 2025 – Could This Be the Game We've Been Waiting For?
I never thought I would get to write these words, but there is a new He-Man game coming out soon, and it looks fantastic!
I'm thrilled to report that He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, will be coming to a games console near you courtesy of the team at Bitmap Bureau Ltd. Known for their great work on Xeno Crisis, and the excellent looking Terminator 2D: No Fate coming later this year, I can't think of a better team to bring He-Man and friends into the modern era.
The announcement came via a retro styled trailer, that you can watch above, showcasing He-Man, Teela, and Man-At-Arms charging into battle against Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, and their minions. The footage highlights the game's beautiful pixel-art style, with massive, highly detailed sprites that capture the essence of the classic Masters of the Universe universe. Set across 12 different levels in Eternia, players will unleash hard-hitting combos, magical attacks, and character-specific specials to thwart Skeletor's ancient ritual that threatens to plunge the world into eternal darkness.
This looks like an exciting revival for the He-Man franchise in gaming, channeling the spirit of 80s cartoons into a modern pixel-art beat-em-up. Bitmap Bureau's expertise in 2D action shines through, and the trailer has me reminiscing about those classic beat 'em up arcade games and all the quarters I pumped into them.
If you're as excited as I am you can head over to the Steam page to add it to your wishlist and check out the full description for more details. The trailer indicates that the game is also coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch but we don't have a release date or any other details on those versions.
Stay tuned to GameMinr for updates on the release date, hands-on impressions, and our full review once He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction drops. Hopefully it won't be too long before we're all yelling; "By the power of Grayskull, I HAVE THE POWER!"
