Huntdown: Overtime Revealed: This Roguelite Prequel Packs a Cybernetic Punch
Easy Trigger Games (creators of the 2021 cult-hit Huntdown) and Coffee Stain Publishing just unveiled HUNTDOWN: OVERTIME, a blood-pumping roguelite prequel starring bounty hunter John Sawyer's origin as a cybernetic legend. Announced today, it blasts into Steam Early Access later this year for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Set in 2084's gang-ravaged New Detroit, you hunt, die, upgrade, and repeat: dive into procedural pits of neon streets and wastelands, collect bounties, and get rebuilt deadlier by mechanic Tony. VHS-grindhouse pixel art meets modern lighting for an awesome retro-futuristic punch.
Run, Gun, and Cyber-Up
- Roguelite Action: Fast run-and-gun firefights with tons of varied weapons. Go loud with big guns or slice up the thugs in melee. If you die, you'll just resurrect stronger.
- Permanent Progression: Unlock cybernetics (reinforced limbs, combat mods), weapon licenses and hundreds of combos for your arsenal.
- Bounty Grind: Bank earnings between runs, push deeper into gang turf for upgrades and secrets.
- '80s B-Movie Vibes: Bold pixel violence, explosive contrasts, and pure VHS grindhouse swagger.
If you loved Huntdown's arcade chaos like we did, this prequel is a welcome sight. It will be interesting to see how it works with roguelite replayability, but it feels like a perfect fit.

If this looks like your kind of thing, head over to the Steam Page and give the guys at Easy Trigger a wishlist. We'll definitely be following this one as it gets closer to launch, so keep your sights locked on GameMinr.com for all the latest.
