Summer Games Fest 2026 Preview: Everything We Expect This Week

Summer Game Fest is back, and this year it's bigger than ever. Seventeen separate showcases spread across eight days, a two-hour live show from the Dolby Theatre, PlayStation's State of Play featuring Marvel's Wolverine, and an Xbox showcase with a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day Direct. If you want to know what's coming next in gaming, this is your week.

Here's every event, and every confirmed reveal happening during the festivities.

State of Play Wolverine

Tuesday, June 2

PlayStation State of Play ⭐ — 2:00 pm PT / 5:00 pm ET — YouTube / Twitch : The big one on Tuesday. Over an hour of PlayStation announcements. Confirmed: Marvel's Wolverine gets an extended look to kick off the show — Insomniac's take on Logan has been shrouded in mystery since its 2021 reveal, and this is our first real gameplay look.

What else to expect from State of Play:

  • Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet — Naughty Dog's sci-fi project. A gameplay glimpse is possible but not confirmed.
  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword — Capcom's revival of the action series. A release date is likely.
  • Silent Hill: Townfall — Slated for 2026, so a release date or gameplay reveal makes sense.
  • Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis — Due later this year. Could appear here or at SGF/Xbox.
  • Cronos: Lazarus — Bloober Team's next horror project, leaked via an IGN Live event listing ahead of the show.
  • Monster Hunter Wilds expansion — Possible teaser, though Capcom may save this for SGF.
  • Forza Horizon 6 — Rumored. With FH5 doing well on PS5, a cross-platform announcement could land here or at Xbox.
  • PS Portal OLED — A hardware refresh rumor making the rounds. Take it with salt.

Wednesday, June 4

Latin American Games Showcase — 2:00 pm PT / 5:00 pm ET — YouTube : 80 games from 12 countries across Latin America. The diversity here is the point — games and studios you won't see at the main showcases.

Shacknews Indie Showcase — 2:30 pm PT / 5:30 pm ET — YouTube : Dozens of titles, new announcements, and updates. A solid indie complement to The Mix.

Thursday, June 5 — The Big Day

Blood Message Reveal at SGF

Summer Game Fest 2026 Main Show ⭐ — 2:00 pm PT / 5:00 pm ET — YouTube / Twitch : Two hours live from the Dolby Theatre, hosted by Geoff Keighley and Lucy James. World premieres, surprise special guests, and the biggest reveal drops of the week. Blood Message (an Uncharted-like action game) is confirmed for an appearance. Keighley keeps the rest under wraps — that's the whole point.

This is the show that sets the tone for everything else.Expect gameplay reveals for games previously shown only in cinematic trailers, at least one "one more thing" that nobody predicted, and the usual mix of indie surprises and AAA blockbusters.

Day of the Devs ⭐ — 4:00 pm PT / 7:00 pm ET — YouTube : Running right after the main show. The non-profit showcase highlights the indie games that define the medium's creative edge. Consistently one of the best-curated shows of the year — these are the games people talk about months later.

Friday, June 6

Southeast Asian Games Showcase — 8:00 am PT / 11:00 am ET — YouTube : Announcements and updates from Southeast Asian developers. Growing in scope every year.

Wholesome Direct — 9:00 am PT / 12:00 pm ET — YouTube : The seventh edition. 50+ "emotionally resonant" titles with world premieres and demo announcements. If you want cozy, creative, and heartwarming, this is your show.

Frosty Games Showcase — 3:00 pm PT / 6:00 pm ET — YouTube : The best upcoming and recently released games from Australia and New Zealand.

Saturday, June 7

Gears of War E-Day Gameplay Reveal

Xbox Games Showcase ⭐ — 10:00 am PT / 1:00 pm ET — YouTube : First-party gameplay looks and news from across the Xbox family, plus third-party partners. Immediately followed by a Gears of War: E-Day Direct — a deep dive into The Coalition's prequel with new gameplay and details.

The Xbox showcase is the second-biggest event of the week after SGF itself. Expect updates on previously announced titles, new reveals, and the usual "Game Pass available today" shadow drops.

PC Gaming Show — 12:00 pm PT / 3:00 pm ET — YouTube : Year 12 for the longest-running PC gaming showcase. RTS, FPS, indie projects, cinematic adventures, and co-op experiences. Usually a solid hour of games you'll actually play on PC.

What We're Most Excited About

This is the week where the next 18 months of gaming gets sketched out. Three events stand above the rest:

1. Marvel's Wolverine at State of Play (Tuesday)

Insomniac hasn't shown gameplay since the 2021 cinematic trailer. We know it's real, we know it's PS5, and we know Insomniac makes incredible superhero games. Marvel's Wolverine could be the game that defines the second half of 2026. The extended look promises actual combat, not just cutscenes.

2. The SGF Main Show (Thursday)

Two hours of world premieres from the Dolby Theatre, this is where the biggest "one more thing" moments will happen. Blood Message is confirmed, but everything else is a mystery, and that's half the fun. Whatever Keighley has locked in those trailers I can't wait to see it.

3. Xbox Showcase + Gears of War: E-Day Direct (Saturday)

Xbox needs a win, and Gears of War: E-Day is the centerpiece. A dedicated Direct means real, extended gameplay not a sizzle reel. The question is what else fills the two hours around it, and whether Xbox has enough first-party depth to carry a showcase without Fable (now delayed to Feb 2027).
