Nintendo Indie World Showcase August 2025: Unearthing the Best Indie Gems for Switch and Switch 2
Today's Nintendo Indie World showcase delivered a whirlwind of announcements for indie games heading to the Switch and its successor, the Switch 2. Clocking in at around 15 minutes, the event spotlighted a mix of new reveals, release dates for announced titles, and surprise releases. While fans continue to wait for big names like Hollow Knight: Silksong, the lineup proved there's plenty of innovation brewing. From metroidvanias to party games, here's our roundup of the most interesting highlights.
Mina the Hollower (Yacht Club Games)
Yacht Club Games kicked things off with a demo drop for Mina the Hollower, a retro-inspired action-adventure where you play as Mina, a mouse-like hero burrowing through a cursed island filled with monsters and hazards.
With whip combat, sidearms, and trinkets, it channels classic Zelda vibes with a spooky twist. The full game launches October 31, 2025—perfect for a Halloween gaming marathon. A demo is available now on Switch and Switch 2, so give it a try yourself and look for our impressions soon.

Neverway (Coldblood Inc.)
In Neverway, you quit your mundane job and move to a small farm, only to find out you are marked as the immortal herald of a dead god in this "nightmarish life sim RPG." Bond with townsfolk, fight horrors with sword and hookshot, and pay off debts—all with pixel art from Celeste's artist and music by Fez's composer. This debut title promises a blend of cozy farming and dark twists, arriving in 2026 on Switch.
Content Warning (Landfall Games)
The viral co-op horror hit Content Warning is coming to consoles! Film scary encounters with friends in nightmarish depths, upload to SpöökTube for fame, and survive to escape. Launching 2026 on Switch and Switch 2, it's chaotic fun for streamer wannabes.
Ball x Pit (Kenny Sun / Devolver Digital)
Soon you'll be able to combine brick-breaking with roguelite survival in Ball x Pit on the go. Upgrade your characters and battle monsters in auto-scrolling levels so you can earn resources to expand and upgrade the lost city of Ballbylon. There is a lot of genres smashed together in this one. Ball x Pit will be out October 15, 2025 on Switch, with a Switch 2 version this fall.
UFO 50 (Mossmouth)
A surprise release, and one that we have been waiting for! UFO 50 is a collection of 50 retro-inspired games from a fictional 8-bit studio, spanning genres like platformers and RPGs. Out today on Switch. After placing high on many Indie Game of the Year lists in 2024 this is a great release for Switch players, don't miss this one.
The showcase wrapped with a montage of other indies like Caves of Qud (Winter 2025), Go-Go Town (Spring 2026), and Opus: Prism Peak (Fall 2025), underscoring Nintendo's commitment to diverse experiences. At GameMinr, we're excited to "mine" deeper into these titles—stay tuned for reviews and recommendations as they drop.
