Kickstart the Week with Immortal: And the Death that Follows

Welcome to GameMinr’s Kickstart the Week, where we spotlight indie projects that deserve a look on Kickstarter! This week, we’re diving into Immortal: And the Death That Follows, a thrilling “Kung-Fu Noir” roguelike from Mishura Games. With a free demo out and a campaign running until October 16, 2025, this game is one that will excite fans of stylish action and Buddhist myth-inspired storytelling, if those are both things you're into.

A Unique Blend of Kung-Fu and Noir

Immortal - Neon Soaked Combat

Immortal: And the Death That Follows drops you into the role of Fudo, a prisoner in Buddha’s cosmic prison, plotting a daring escape across 25 brutal cell blocks. This roguelike character-action game blends Devil May Cry-style combos, Hotline Miami’s kill-or-be-killed tension, and Prince of Persia-esque platforming, all wrapped in a noir aesthetic infused with Buddhist mythology. The result? A “Kung-Fu Noir” prison drama that’s as stylish as it is intense. Mishura Games calls it a “unique vision” that mixes fast-paced combat with unexpected elements like dating sim mechanics, letting you forge alliances with inmates to build your Asura gang.

Gameplay That Packs a Punch

The Kickstarter trailer, which you can watch above, showcases fluid martial arts combat where you create your own fighting style, switching between personalities to manage a Risk gauge instead of health, since you're immortal and all. Randomized runs, procedurally generated levels, and deep customization keep every escape attempt fresh.

The free demo, available on Steam, lets you test Fudo’s combos and explore the game’s striking 2D art, which evokes ‘90s anime with a dark, gritty edge. Mishura also plans to refine and update the demo throughout the Kickstarter campaign based on player feedback, so if you have suggestions or run into issues make sure to let them know.

Back the Dream, Join the Fight for Freedom

Immortal - Make a Choice

Launched on September 16, 2025, the Kickstarter campaign's initial goal of $29,000 has already been reached! Pledges that include a digital copy of the game start at €20 (~$24). Higher tiers include beta access, soundtrack downloads, and the chance to design attacks or enemies.

Stretch goals promise language support, extra platforms, and a guest song by Shinji Hosoe who has composed for both Street Fighter EX and TEKKEN. Currently release is planned for 2027 on PC and consoles, but Mishura Games needs your support to make it happen.

"We are incredibly excited to finally put the fate of our beloved creation into the hands of those who supported and cared us throughout the years—the public," notes Mishura Games. "We hope that our 'publisher' becomes the free internet!"
