Star Wars: Galactic Racer

A runs-based Star Wars racer from ex-Criterion talent: Burnout-style takedowns and craft building in an underground Outer Rim league, with a story campaign and 12-player online races.

What It Is

STAR WARS: Galactic Racer is a high-stakes reinvention of racing set after Return of the Jedi, in the New Republic era. With the Empire gone and the galaxy rebuilding, The Galactic League rises as an unsanctioned Outer Rim circuit where syndicates bankroll pilots, glory is short-lived, and risk is the real currency.

You play as Shade, a lone racer pulled into League politics and a revenge arc against the Bool family and champion Kestar Bool, while founder Darius Pax tries to keep the sport from being locked down by one bloodline. The pitch on Steam is blunt: no Force, no prophecy -- skill, strategy, and the will to climb.

Fuse Games (founded 2023 by senior Criterion alumni behind Burnout / Need for Speed) develops; Secret Mode publishes; Lucasfilm Games is in the loop creatively. It is the fourth major Star Wars racing game after Episode I: Racer (1999), Super Bombad Racing (2001), and Racer Revenge (2002).

What We Know

Modes

  • Story-driven single-player campaign framed as a runs-based / high-stakes career inside the League (alliances, status, risk/reward)

  • Online multiplayer up to 12 players, with ranking planned

  • Arcade time trials and objective races

  • PvP grudge matches where reputation rides with you

  • Cross-platform multiplayer supported on Steam feature list

Vehicles

Four repulsorcraft classes with distinct physics:

  • Podracers -- classic speed, fragile, iconic

  • Landspeeders -- balanced all-rounders

  • Speeder bikes -- agile, tight terrain

  • Skimspeeders -- new class introduced with this game

Build and customize craft for edge and style. Combat racing language is pure Fuse: slam, shunt, and takedown rivals; bigger risk, bigger reward.

Worlds

Announced / marketed circuits include Tatooine, Jakku, Ando Prime, Lantaana, and Sentinel I, with multiple tracks per planet and an emphasis on improvisation over a single ideal racing line. Phantom Menace-era racers (e.g. Sebulba, Ben Quadinaros) appear in the roster fantasy.

Why It Matters for Catalog

Most modern licensed racers are career mode + livery shop. Galactic Racer sells a Burnout combat-racing feel plus a runs-based League fantasy under Star Wars skin -- closer to "racing adventure" than pure sim. If the single-player loop is as sharp as the trailer speed, this is the first serious franchise racing entry in two decades worth tracking next to Episode I: Racer nostalgia, not just as merchandise.
